WHAT ARE TREND INDICATORS?
Each of the three indexes is represented by two or more trend indicators. These 16 measures gauge the direction and magnitude of the states’ economic development efforts in the context of their own political and economic environment. The rank indicates how the state performed on each trend indicator, relative to the other 49 states. The data are pulled from the 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2006 DRCs. In some cases, data are repeated from one DRC to the next and only 3 or 4 unique data points are available. For more information please refer to the DRC website www.cfed.org/go/drc.
