Entrepreneurship is a way of life in Maine

A recent survey by the Kauffman Index of Entrepreneurial Activity ranked Maine as the fifth-best state in the nation for entrepreneurial activity due to the number of local resources available to new business owners. Maine's ranking signifies a healthy rate of new business activity in the state at 0.42 percent for 2006, compared to 0.29 percent nationally.

New Director Chosen to Oversee State Office of Innovation

The state Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD) today announced the hiring of Catherine S. Renault as the new director of the Office of Innovation (OOI). Dr. Renault will oversee technology-based economic development under the DECD and officially begins her new position today.
